Legionella pneumophila
According to the WHO, respiratory tract infections are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in both infants and older age groups. Approximately 70% of these infections affect the upper respiratory tract and middle ear.
The diagnosis and treatment of respiratory infections remain a primary focus for both general practitioners and pediatricians, as these ailments account for over 90% of all outpatient visits, particularly during the autumn and winter seasons.
Legionella pneumophila is a gram-negative bacterium that proliferates in air conditioning systems, showerheads, humidifiers, and inhalers, causing legionellosis, or Legionnaires' disease. Diagnosis is traditionally based on bacteriological culture and serological tests (e.g., the indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA)). PCR-based methods are used to confirm the diagnosis.
The Legionella pneumophila REAL-TIME PCR Detection Kit is an in vitro Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) – pathogen-detection-based product.
The Legionella pneumophila REAL-TIME PCR Detection Kit is designed to detect Legionella pneumophila nucleic acids in human biological samples with an aid of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method.
